Take a mid-week break and head to downtown Round Rock to see their free concert series, Music on Main Street, that returns March 1 for its fifth season. Bring the entire family to this concert series, kick off your shoes, and be entertained by a variety of talented musicians. Amplify Austin is a day of online giving to over 600 local non-profit groups of all sizes and in all areas of service. The 24-hour period provides an easy and fun way for the community to give together. Over $24.7 million has been raised during the last 4 years for local organizations. In 2016, 40 percent of the 61,625 Amplify Austin Day donations were first time gifts to nonprofit organizations. Together we raised $8.5 million for over 600 Central Texas nonprofits. This year we hope to raise over $9 million for almost 700 organizations.

BBQ Austin is a fun event for the public to attend and includes a BBQ cook-off competition, live music on the outdoor stage, carnival rides, and games! Cities from all over Texas send their Champion BBQ Teams to compete in our Invitational Division for the title of “State of Texas BBQ Grand Champion.” Additionally, all our teams compete for the title and purse of “BBQ Austin Grand Champion.” Everyone is welcome and donation jars are provided in each team space for public donations to help raise funds for the Scholarship Program. Admission includes entry to cook-off area with free tasting samples, entry to outdoor stage for concerts, and entry to the carnival.

Grab your kite and head down to Zilker Park in Austin to see some beautiful kites flying high in the sky! Held on the first Sunday of March, the kite festival is the kick-off to springtime activities in Austin and is the longest continuously running kite festival in the United States. The festival is sponsored by the Exchange Club and the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department every year. There is no admission and the entire family, pets included, are invited to see the colorful sky.
