Come to Round Rock’s Sam Bass Community Theatre for Death and the Maiden written by Ariel Dorfman, directed by Veronica Prior. This production is for mature audiences only. Starring Cathie Sheridan, Robert Stevens and Frank Benge, Death and the Maiden tell the story of Paulina Salas, a former political prisoner of a sadistic doctor whose face she never saw. Years later, after the repressive regime has fallen, Paulina believes the voice and the mannerisms of a man who helped her husband with a flat tire to be those of her captor and takes him captive in order to put him on trial.

This summer, enjoy live music on the Courthouse Square each Friday night in the Music on the Square Summer Concert Series. The Austin Saengerrunde and HOPE Farmers Market have partnered up to combine the TX German Bier Festival and Austin’s First Annual Grilled Käse (a.k.a. Cheese) Competition! This year, craft breweries will once again showcase specialty German style bier and what better accompaniment than a Grilled Käse Competition! Local chefs, foodies, and cheese enthusiasts will compete for the title of “Best in Show” (Overall Favorite Choice) and “The BIG Cheese” (The Biggest and Best use of Cheese).

Those who purchase a general admission ticket will receive a commemorative glass boot, bier tasting tickets, and samples of Grilled Käse. You will also receive (2) tokens to vote on your favorite cheese sample! Ticket holders will also be entered to win (2) round trip tickets from Austin to Frankfurt with Condor North America (Condor German Airlines)! Winner will be announced at the event!

This year’s bands include Grammy Award winning psychedelic polka band, Brave Combo, and local South Austin German “80’s East Berlin Folktronica”, and Froetzel. All ages are welcome, but you must be 21+ to drink alcohol.

Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the emancipation of slavery in the state of Texas. Today, Juneteenth celebrates African American freedom while encouraging self-development and respect for all cultures.

The Rhythm and Ribs Festival begins on Friday night and continues to Saturday with a full day of entertainment from 2:00 pm until midnight. The event features headliner Cupid and the Dance Party Express, Tamika Jones Band, DJ Cut Creator and more! Admission and parking for this event are FREE. The event also features a health fair, carnival rides, BBQ cook-off, moonwalks, clowns, games, food, retail vendors and much, much more!
