One of the best things about springtime in Round Rock is the start of baseball season, and with it, Round Rock Express games at the Dell Diamond. The Round Rock Express is our very own Triple-A Pacific Coast League minor league baseball team, owned by RSR sports (Nolan Ryan, Don Sanders, and Reid Ryan). The team was named for Nolan Ryan’s nickname as pitcher, “The Ryan Express”. They are affiliated with the Texas Rangers, and many Express players go on to play in the major league.
Spending time at a Round Rock Express game is great fun for everyone. Besides the baseball diamond, the Dell Diamond has a playground, sports court, party porch, and picnic area, along with many options for food and drink. Attendees are often asked to participate in on-field activities between innings and throughout the game. In addition, a fireworks show follows every Friday night home game. The stadium is also friendly to local businesses, hosting corporate nights throughout the year.
In terms of ticket prices, options are available for all budgets. General admission berm (or lawn) seating is available first come-first serve for $7 on the day of the game. Be sure to bring a blanket if you decide to sit on the berm as lawn chairs are not allowed. Seats in the infield and behind home base will cost between $10 and $16. For a more up-scale experience, premium seats are $30 per person.
The stadium also has its very own pool that can be rented during games that provides a great party atmosphere. Reserving the pool for $2,000 includes 50 tickets for the game, an all-inclusive buffet, and access to the pool, hot tub and cabana for you and your guests throughout the entire game. This is a unique experience that can only be had at a Round Rock Express game. It’s a perfect way to stay cool during those hot July games.
