History of Taylor, Texas

Taylor, founded in 1876, was first named after a railroad official, Edward Moses Taylor, as Taylorsville. The town was incorporated in 1882 and officially got renamed in 1892 as Taylor. It was established mainly by immigrants and became a hub for grain, cattle, and cotton. By 1900, Taylor had several institutions and enterprises, and the population grew by over 100 residents each year.
