As fall approaches, many of you may be contemplating the look and feel of your home and what you can do to get it ready for the holidays. Perhaps you just moved in to your new home and want to conquer that “to do list”.
Whatever the case might be, here are some great design ideas that will add a beautiful focal point to your home. Get ready to create a stunning cozy atmosphere that is sure to impress your company.
- Big fluffy sofa sectionals (circa 1985) have made their way back. Think comfy and large! Remember to measure your space before you shop.
- As far as color palettes, grays are still hot! Blues have also snuck their way back in the door. Silver Fox or Blue Danube by Benjamin Moore are two of our favorite colors.
- Mixing rustic and reclaimed wood with chrome or acrylic furniture creates a clean, yet cozy look. Don’t be afraid to mix the rustic and modern decorative accents together either. Go for it!
- If you have neutral rooms with wood trim around your windows and doors consider painting them black. Yes, black. It draws the eye to the great outdoors, as well as creating a versatile design without having to re-paint a whole room.
- Vintage bathtubs and pedestal sinks are a great way to wash off the holiday strain. They add personality to any bathroom and create space allowing room to add relaxing spa accents.
- In recently built model homes, I have seen a wonderful trend of adding wood beams along the ceiling or creating a mantle. The natural driftwood color gives a soft earthy feel that changes the entire look of a room.
- Geometric shapes are huge this year whether it’s in the shape of furniture, fabric, artwork, accents or light fixtures.
- Feeling the need for color? Go Boho! (Bohemian). Incorporate colorful rugs, art, pillows, and accessories.
We encourage you to mix all your likes and tastes together. The design forecast calls for a melting pot of joy in decorating your home!
