7 Reasons To Live In Teravista, Round Rock - Main Image

Teravista is a very popular community to live in due to its beautiful homes, panoramic views, and abundant amenities.  The neighborhood is a repeated winner of the “Community of the Year” awards given out by the Home Builders Association of Austin and the Austin Business Journal. Let's dive into these 7 reasons to live in Teravista!

Just north of Austin, Texas, lies a desirable master-planned community called Teravista.  The ground was broken on the first home in 2001; now, Teravista has 3600 homes on 1500 acres.  Most of the homes are within the boundaries of the city of Round Rock, but some are also located within the boundaries of Georgetown as well. The city of Round Rock has been ranked as a top American small city.

Built on the Balcones Escarpment, the area offers hilly terrain with higher and lower elevations.  One can see for miles from Teravista.  Families love the spacious homes and easy access to exemplary schools. Commuters love the quick access to highways.  It’s close enough to Austin to take advantage of all the big city has to offer but far enough away to feel the peacefulness of the outer suburbs.

1. Teravista Location

In less than 5 minutes, you are on the I-35, the main thoroughfare south to Austin and connecting to numerous other suburbs. University Blvd heads east or west. Twenty minutes east is Hutto; 20 minutes west is Cedar Park

Getting around the area is very easy, commuting to work or heading to a ball game. The Austin metropolitan area has a significant interstate system that makes getting to any destination simple. But, you may not need to travel far as Round Rock and Georgetown have almost everything you need.

2. Opportunities for Work Near Teravista

You won’t have to travel far to find employment. Round Rock is home to Dell Technologies, Cintas, TECO-Westinghouse, Cerilliant Corporation, and Emerson Process Management. Georgetown’s major employers are the Williamson County Government, the public school district, St. David’s Georgetown Hospital, and Airborn, Inc. Just 20 miles south of Teravista, Austin is home to dozens of high-tech, pharmaceutical, and biotech companies such as 3M, Apple, Google, Hewlett-Packard, Cisco Systems, PayPal, Qualcomm, Tesla, Xerox, and many more.

Of course, there are also many retail and service locations in the area to find employment, including IKEA, H.E.B., and the Round Rock Outlet stores.

Single-family and attached homes are available depending on whether you want to deal with outdoor maintenance.  Homes have spacious lots and manicured lawns.  Some have inground pools and large trees.  A sense of pride in the community is reflected in manicured lawns and landscaping.

Many homes are built right on the golf course, and others are close to parks.  Either way, there is plenty of green open space. An active homeowner’s association with fees covers amenities and hosts events.

5. Shopping and Sports Near Teravista

We’ve mentioned Teravista’s close proximity to Austin and other suburbs, but one does not have to go far for the best shopping, restaurants, and outdoor recreation.

One of the largest grocery stores in the area, the local H.E.B. has much more than just produce and canned goods; think housewares, clothes, in-season gear, and more.

Shopping is top-notch.  The Round Rock Premium Outlet Mall and IKEA are joined by major chain stores, restaurants, and independent small business shops.

Teravista was initially built as a golf course community; thus, it has a 7,200-yard, 18-hole championship course, putting green, driving range, and a clubhouse with a pro shop.

Teravista has two fitness centers.  The Residents’ Clubhouse is in Round Rock, and the Wildflower Club is in Georgetown.  Each of these complexes offers pools, tennis, and sand volleyball courts.  A third community pool can be found at The Retreat.  The Clubhouse also has a basketball court, and The Wildflower Club has a pickleball court.  If your puppy needs a bath, come to the Round Rock Clubhouse and use the wash table, hose, and blow dryer.

6. The Great Outdoors Near Teravista

Head to the Splash Pad at Rabbit Hill Park to beat the heat.  The park is 12 acres and features a Giant Spider blasting water over a 2,000-square-foot area.  A dragonfly mural and flowering water features offer another 850 feet of cooling fun.

Teravista has plenty of trails, parks, and green spaces perfect for a jog, bike ride, or stroll.  The largest of these is Teravista Lake Park.  Seven ponds are stocked with bluegill and bass.  Bring a fishing pole for catch and release fun.

The Ranch House is available for meetings and events.  It commemorates the original family homestead of the early settlers.

If that’s not enough, venture into Round Rock to Veterans Park or Old Settlers Park.  Head to a baseball game and watch the Round Rock Express, a minor league team.  A little further drive lets you escape into the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Area.

7. A Sense of Community in Teravista

When you move to Teravista, you are not just buying a home but joining a community.  The homeowner’s association sponsors a myriad of events throughout the year.  In addition, there are movie nights and groups for adults and children to join.

The Teravista Community Association hosts a community event almost every month of the year, including Winter Wonderland, Spring Fling, Daddy Daughter Dance, Casino Night, Fall Festival with Chili Cook-off, and Holiday Lights Contest.
