Based on the Universal Pictures’ cult classic movie, which starred Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly, Xanadu is Tony Award-nominated hilarity on wheels for adults, children and anyone who has ever wanted to feel inspired. The screenplay, written by Richard Danus and Marc Rubel, is a musical adventure about following your dreams despite the limitations others set for you. This roller skating fun rolls along to the original hit score composed by pop-rock legends Jeff Lynne and John Farrar.

 
Trout Fishing Derby
January 18 at 1PM
Shirley McDonald Park and Pond

Come out to the Shirley McDonald Pond to learn about rod & reel and fly fishing for rainbow trout. Each fish will be measured and recorded for prizes, and each participant can take home the daily limit of 5 fish. Bring your own rod and reel or borrow a loaner set at the pond. A fishing license is required by Texas Parks and Wildlife for those 17 and older, and must be purchased in advance of the event. Requirement for the Cub Scout fishing belt loop and pin will be worked on during the event.

 
Snow Ball Winter Party

Do you have a 4th or 5th grader ready to rock on the dance floor? Let them kick off the New Year right with the Snow Ball Winter Party at the Brushy Creek Community Center from 6PM to 8PM. The event will include delicious snacks, music, a movie and much more. Cost ranges from $6 for members of the Brushy Creek Community Center to $12 for non-residents. These dances are often very popular, so register at least one day in advance since space is very limited and entrance the day of can’t be guaranteed.

 
Monument Garden Workshop

This free gardening workshop is perfect for the beginning gardener and those new to growing in Central Texas. This class, “Preparing the Soil for a New Garden” with Michelle, will give information about getting your garden ready for spring planting. Workshops held on various Saturdays will help you know what to plant, what to harvest and other timely garden tasks.

 
Community Helpers Club for Tweens & Teens

Teens and Tweens are invited to the Round Rock Public Library to volunteer and become a Round Rock Community Hero. On Tuesday, February 2 at 4:30 pm, volunteers can participate in an afternoon of crafts and fun while serving other in the community. Dancing with the Stars: LIVE! Dance All Night Tour!

Fans of Dancing with the Stars will be given the opportunity to see their favorite stars dance live in Austin. The Dance All Night Tour is bringing a one-of-a-kind touring production to Bass Concert Hall on February 4th. Dancing With the Stars: LIVE! – Dance All Night Tour features a bigger cast than ever before. In this all new production, the dancers bring you a 90-minute action-packed live show including exciting and romantic performances. Guests will see choreography never before seen on Dancing with the Stars as well as some of the most memorable numbers from the show.

 
8th Annual Mother and Son Dance

Mothers, bring your sons out for a fun evening of sports and dancing! Mothers and their sons will enjoy yummy food, music from local favorite, DJ Timo, sports and dancing games, a mother vs. son dodge ball game, a digital picture and a dance off with trophies for first, second, and third place in the younger and older age divisions. Suggested attire is sports team jerseys/t-shirts and athletic shoes for the sports games. Entrance into this event is $10/Member Couple, $15/Resident Couple and $25/Non-resident Couple with additional sons being only $4.

 
21st Annual Cupid’s Chase 5k Run/Walk & Kids’ Fun Run

The 21st Annual Cupid’s Chase 5k Run/Walk is scheduled for Saturday, February 6 and will benefit the Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department. The course is set through historic downtown Georgetown as well as Southwestern University and local parks. There is a kid’s fun run that begins at 7:30AM and the 5k Run/Walk is set to begin at 8:00AM. Participants in the Kid’s Fun Run will receive a short sleeve t-shirt, a participant award and a goody bag! Additionally, participants can dress up in their best cupid-related costume and be eligible to win prizes provided by Gus’s Drug. Check in at the Gus’s Drug table at the finish line. 13th Annual Daddy Daughter Dance – “Hollywood”

The Clay Madsen Recreation Center welcomes dads and daughters of all ages to the 13th annual Daddy Daughter Dance on Saturday, February 6 from 5PM to 10:30PM. The RED carpet will be rolled out for this “Hollywood” affair with glitz and glamour for a night of fun and dancing. Two identical dances are held during the evening for two ages groups:
• 5PM to 7:30PM — Girls age infant through 7
• 8PM to 10:30PM — Girls age 8 and up
Dads with daughters in each age category may choose to bring both daughters to the dance of their choice. Daughters are able to compete in a dance contest, enjoy light refreshments, have pictures taken by a professional photographer (for an additional fee), and experience a night of making fun memories.
