Full of history, Kincheonville, also known as Kincheon, in Austin, Texas, was first established by a formerly enslaved person named Thomas Kincheon and his wife, Mary, after hearing of the Emancipation Proclamation in 1865. Coming from Mississippi, Thomas created a small, rural community of roughly eighty like-minded individuals, all surrounding his family farm, where his family produced milk and butter for a local university. Today's neighborhood has changed a lot, with most construction coming in the 1950s, making Kincheonville home to many mid-century modern designs. Still, the history of the community is a rich and profound part of Kincheon. Green, with fully established, large trees, and centered around Longview Park, Kincheon is a strong, faithful, and family-friendly community.
