AUSTIN FORECLOSURE POSTINGS HIT 28-WEEK LOW
AUSTIN, TX (Austin Business Journal) - A total 974 properties were posted for the May 3 foreclosure auction in Austin, representing a 29 percent decrease from the previous month.
Foreclosure Listing Service Inc. said the amount is a 28-week low for Austin, and about 14 percent less than the 1,139 properties that went to foreclosure auction last May.
œI believe this is an artificial decline in foreclosure notices due to the tremendous scrutiny applied by regulators during recent months in response to publicity about past problems with the foreclosure process, including robo-signing," FLS President George Roddy said.
The significant decrease was common throughout Central Texas. Bastrop reported the highest change, with the total falling 43 percent year over year. Hays County experienced the least significant drop, but still decreased 10 percent from April to May.
